The Federal Indirect Electoral Implementation Team (FIEIT) considers that election that took place in Jowhar today, Saturday, 10 December 2016, as unfortunate and not in accordance with the electoral law.

FIEIT in reference to the letter that it had earlier issued on 7 December in which it announced its decision on the Seat of Jidle Clan, would like to state that the State-level Indirect Electoral Implementation Team of Hirshabelle has no legal authority to hold election for a candidate who had been disqualified from contesting.

FIEIT once again reiterates that all candidates who had been disqualified from contesting cannot take part in the 2016 indirect electoral process. Therefore, FIEIT will not recognize the results of the seats the election of which is not in line with the law of the 2016 elections.

As mentioned in the decision of FIEIT, the traditional elder of the above mentioned clan who is responsible for the seat of Jidle Clan is expected to select new electoral delegates.

FIEIT would like to stress on all the stakeholders involved in the electoral process to respect the transparency and credibility of the 2016 elections.
